In all honesty, I enjoyed this movie more than Frozen. Perhaps that's due to the amount of times I've heard Let it Go in the past three years, but nonetheless, I believe Moana knocks it out of the park. The unique narrative and stunning animations alone make it outstanding. Not to mention, my inner Hamilton nerd was freaking out at the parts when I heard Lin Manuel Miranda sing. The characters are intriguing, and I think Moana herself is among one of my favorite Disney princesses (even if she doesn't technically qualify. She has a fierce personality, and it's clear Disney wanted to present a strong-female-lead. And they did so in a way that wasn't in your face about it (as many movies do. I was also surprised at how well Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson did in his role as Maui. I never knew the guy could sing, but I was greatly surprised. The flaws I found in the movie are very nit-picky, but I think they deserve to be brought up. For one, a lot of the characters seem to change their minds on things a lot quicker than I expected, and it was kind of jarring, in particular, Maui's character had a weird change of heart in the story that felt out of place. I also wasn't a huge fan of Hay-hay, the chicken sidekick. Was kind of hoping they stuck with the pig. But all in all, I highly recommend checking this film out.

It made me cry more than once. A great inspirational movie for girls. This movie didn't look very good before I had seen it. Upon watching it though it has great messages about girls being the hero and families/ community. It has had good humour that actually did make me laugh out loud. The songs weren't as good as classic Disney but there were an handful that were really good.

It is the second Disney movie this year after the incredible Zootopia that was released back in February, and now I can say it is the second incredible movie released by Disney in 2016. Moana is a very interesting and touching movie about a girl named Moana (Vaiana) who dreams of sailing the world. She is voiced by Auli'i Cravalho who does a fantastic job on the role with her insanely talented voice, singing all the wonderful songs that will very soon be considered as classics. Dwayne Johnson is great (as per usual) as Maui - a legendary shapeshifting demigod. He brings such a fun, lovely, and comforting voice to his character that very few actors can do. And he is great at singing too, which was a surprise for me. It also has great animation, with incredible visuals as we've come to expect in Disney movies nowadays. I truly believe that in this decade, Disney has absolutely taken over the reigns in the film industry, and especially on the animation side of things. With movies like Tangled, Wreck-it Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia and now Moana, Disney shows no sign of stopping in their road to greatness and taking over the world.
